YOUTHreach researchers join the EFPSA Conference 2026

On Friday March 27, 2026, four YOUTHreach researchers will participate in the annual conference of the European Federation of Psychology Students’ Associations (EFPSA). The event will take place at Kasteel de Berckt in Baarlo, the Netherlands, bringing together psychology students, researchers and (young) professionals from across Europe.

The EFPSA Conference offers a week of inspiring lectures, interactive workshops and opportunities to exchange ideas about psychology, research and practice. During the conference, the YOUTHreach team will host a round table session introducing participants to three promising youth mental health interventions that are currently being evaluated within the YOUTHreach project. The session will focus on how these interventions aim to better support young people experiencing mental health difficulties and how youth-friendly approaches can improve access to care.

Representing YOUTHreach at the conference:

  • Fenna Hellegers and Esmée Otten (PhD candidates at Amsterdam UMC) will discuss the online platform designed to support young people with their mental health.
  • Anouk Boonstra (psychologist and postdoctoral researcher at Maastricht University) will discuss the app-based training aimed at improving psychological well-being and self-esteem among young people.
  • Casper Crombach (PhD candidate at Maastricht University’s Mental Health and Neuroscience Research Institute, MHeNs) will discuss the Youth Walk-In Centres, which aim to improve access to youth mental health support.

The session offers an opportunity for psychology students from across Europe to learn more about innovative approaches to youth mental health and to exchange ideas with researchers working in the field.
