Earlier this summer, Dr. Ayshe Yaylali, postdoctoral researcher at the CAPHRI Care and Public Health Research Institute at Maastricht University, represented YOUTHreach at the EU Health Economics Association (EU HEA) Conference, held from 14–17 July in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
Health Technology Assessment (HTA) is a way of looking at a health intervention from different perspectives. It considers not only whether an intervention works, but also what it costs, what benefits it brings, how it can be implemented, and what impact it may have on young people, families, healthcare systems and society as a whole.
At the EU HEA Conference, Dr. Yaylali presented the protocol and emerging work for a YOUTHreach HTA-paper that is currently being prepared. This paper will explore how youth-friendly mental health interventions can support young people while potentially creating wider societal and economic benefits. This is an important part of the YOUTHreach study: understanding not only whether youth-friendly mental health support works, but also what value it can bring to young people, communities and society.
