YAG Update #8

Learn more about the work of the YAG in the last few months.

The July session of the Youth Advisory Group featured young people joining us from the UK, Ireland, Belgium, Germany, Italy and Estonia! A few highlights from this session:

Naming our co-created outcome measure

Since last April, we’ve been working with our YAG to co-create a youth outcome measure covering themes such as happiness, sense of purpose, social connection, mood, sleep and motivation. It’s still waiting on a name and our young advisors brought fantastic ideas to the table which we can’t wait to develop with them further.

Talking honestly and openly about reimbursement

We had a really useful discussion about compensation for activities inside and outside regular meetings. Our YAG were clear: fair reimbursement isn’t just a nice-to-have, it’s about valuing young people’s time, making participation accessible to everyone regardless of circumstance, and setting the standard for how youth voice should be treated across research. Thank you for such honest and generous input

A huge welcome to Florina-Marieta Neagu, soon to be the new President of AEGEE-Europe! Florina joined us to introduce AEGEE Europe, a volunteer-led, youth-led network of ~13,000 members across 100+ cities and 35+ countries, championing a democratic, diverse and borderless Europe. As one of YOUTHreach’s partners, AEGEE plays a vital role representing youth voice and co-creating our communications and dissemination work. It was wonderful to hear more about their focus on resilient youth, future-readiness, and stronger communities.

Huge thanks as always to our facilitators Carla Searle and Sophia Kaur Badhan FRSA BCAh and to every young advisor who brought their energy, honesty and brilliant ideas to this session.
