Giovanni de Girolamo, MD, psychiatrist, is the lead for the Italian clinical site for the YOUTHreach project. He leads the Unit of Epidemiological Psychiatry at the IRCCS Fatebenefratelli in Brescia (Italy), where he previously served as Scientific Director (2008–2013). In the past he worked for six years at the Division of Mental Health of W.H.O. in Geneva, under the Direction of Norman Sartorius. He has coordinated over 25 research projects funded by the European Commission, the Italian Ministry of Health, and other funding agencies. He has published over 380 papers indexed on PubMed and holds an H-index of 103 (Scopus, December 2024). His research focuses on epidemiological psychiatry, health services research, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder research and the transition from child/adolescent to adult mental health services.
