Thomas Freeney is a PhD researcher in the School of Psychology at the University of Galway. His PhD is part of the EU-funded YOUTH-REACH project and focuses on digital youth mental health, with particular interest in engagement, loneliness, and online interventions. He brings a mixed-methods approach informed by prior professional experience in youth mental health service development, educational consultancy and applied research. His work aims to better understand how meaningful engagement with interventions can reduce loneliness and improve mental health outcomes for young people.
